Sustainable development goals
Placewise deliver contributions up against the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:
Decent work and economic growth goal

GOAL 8:
Decent Work and Economic Growth

Shopping centres are important employers and contributors to the economy in local and regional areas. The economical contribution from shopping centres gives income to individuals across all layers of society and gives decent work to millions of people. For smaller towns and regions, the shopping centre is often the main source of economic growth. Placewise help shopping centres evolve in the digital world and hence maintain and increase their attractiveness towards shoppers so the contributions to local economy and jobs can be upheld and grow over time.
Industry innovation and infrastructure

GOAL 9:
Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

Placewise is at the forefront of innovating for the global shopping centre industry. Our technology enables shopping centres to expand their business model and create new customer experiences. We do innovation in-house, with external partners and clients, and in co-operation with government innovation programs. "Innovative" is one of our three core company values.
Industry innovation and infrastructureSustainable cities and communities

GOAL 11:
Sustainable Cities and Communities

Technology from Placewise supports sustainable cities and communities. Digital tools for marketing reduce the consumption of printed material and transport. E-commerce solutions for shopping centres reduce the need for last mile deliveries. Placewise is running an innovation track called "Tread lightly" which includes technology support for CO2 offsetting shopping centre visits and purchases, exchange of second-hand products and product rentals.
Responsible consumption and production

GOAL 12:
Responsible Consumption and Production

Technology from Placewise supports responsible consumption and production. Digital tools for marketing reduce the consumption of printed material and transport. E-commerce solutions for shopping centres reduce the need for last mile deliveries. Up to 50% of all clothing items purchased online end up being a return. Due to free returns it has become custom for consumers to order multiple sizes and colours of the same item, try them on at home and return the products not wanted. This is contributing to excess production, increased waste and increased transport emissions internationally and locally - all in all this is unsustainable consumption. By ordering items for pick up at your local mall, or doing returns at your local mall, the volume of returns, deliveries and waste will be reduced substantially. Placewise offers technology to enable this offering from shopping centres. Placewise is also running an innovation track called "Tread lightly" which includes technology support for exchange of second-hand products and product rentals.
