In the last few months, you may have noticed your news feeds bubbling with mentions of Google Analytics 4 (GA4). This latest version of the ubiquitous Google Analytics platform is slated to take over the existing Universal Analytics effective July 1, 2023.
How is GA4 different?
GA4 ushers in a whole new era of event-based analytics that will span website and mobile applications to holistically measure usage in an increasingly cookieless world. Along with the name change and updated measurement methodology, users will also notice an updated look with exciting new analyzation and reporting tools at their fingertips. The new look will take some getting used to, but the benefits should outweigh the interim inconvenience in the long run.
While historical data from the current UA platform will remain available for some time (at least 6 months after switching over per Google), existing analytics will not be merged into GA4. But don’t panic, Placewise has already activated GA4 properties for our hosted website clients, and many other partners to which clients already have access. When logging in, simply look for a new instance labeled {mall name} – GA4
If you have questions on the update or how to proceed, please feel free to reach out to our Google guy, Robert.Drews@Placewise.com or your account services contact.
